Sir Lawrence Alma Tadema was a famous Dutch Romanticist artist who spent much of his life in 19th century Britain. Tadema’s paintings were famous for being set in Antiquity, and he also painted portraits, landscapes and watercolors, and made some etchings. Alma Tadema regularly incorporated flowers, textures and hard reflecting substances, like metals, pottery into his works. Alma Tadema was also best known for realistic marble effects in many of his paintings.
