Poussin Paintings

By artforus

Poussin paintings can be found in this gallery. Nicolas Poussin was a famous French artist who spent much of his time painting in Italy. Poussin’s paintings came during the Baroque period of the 17th century but his style was different to that norm.

Louis XIII gave Poussin the title of First Painter in Ordinary which helped him to establish the great name in art that he enjoys today, and Poussin mixed his time between Italy and France depending in the main on the orders that he was given by his employers and commissioners. Today it is the Louvre in Paris which hosts the best examples of his works from an extensive career, and is well worth a visit, whichever art movements are most enjoyed by any art lovers across the world.
